I raised my hand to deflect it. Why not? I could push away small objects moving much faster than it. Bullets. Unfortunately, it did not work. I don't know if it was because of the size or weight of the fox, or that it was a living thing. Those nasty teeth bit into my wrist as its body swung toward me from the momentum.

I tripped over a small log as I retreated from the attacker and landed on my back. Jada was screaming at me, but I couldn't understand anything that she said. I had my hands full, literally. I grabbed the neck of the fox with my free hand and tried to pull it off me. The teeth dug deeper into my flesh. I resorted to punching the rabid fucker in the head repeatedly until it finally let loose. It dove for my neck after that, but I knocked it aside.
